Hypocrisy in Abortion
It seems that innocent lives are being snuffed out by mostly selfish people looking to erase the consequences of their actions. I understand that there are women having abortions who are raped, but that only makes up for about 1%. In the only major study of pregnant rape victims, Dr. Sandra Mahkorn found that 75-80% choose against abortions. It seems most women understand that you can’t correct one tragedy with another.
I would like to take a look at the pro-choice argument that it is a woman’s body therefore she has the right to do what she wants. On the surface this seems to be true, but we’ll see if logically it makes sense.
Scientifically every cell in a human’s body has the same DNA. This is to identifier of identifiers as far as forensics and science goes. If you were to be blown to smithereens they could identify you with a skin cell. How is it then that a women can claim that child inside of her part of her body? Does that baby’s cells have the exact same DNA as the mother? The answer is NO. Therefore it is not part of her body. They usually don’t even have the same type of blood. Instead of saying the child is part of a woman’s body, it would be more accurate to say that a woman is responsible for the care and health of that child inside her body. The care for that small child is so delicate that when a woman is pregnant she does not act as if she is caring for herself anymore, but a change has occured.
I would like to go into the hypothetical for a moment and then conclude. If I was to see my physician and tell him I need a referal to a surgeon because I would like to get some of my intestines removed, he’d think I was nuts. If I spoke to a surgeon and asked him to remove any healthy functioning part of my body, I would bet an honest surgeon would deny me that surgery. I understand that there are crooked people in the world who will do anything for the right price. We are not talking about them at this point. A Dr. would have to violate ethics codes to perform the removal of a healthy part due to inconvenience. If you don’t believe me, ask your doctor to remove part of your liver because liver cancer runs in your family and you don’t want to deal with it when you get older. When a woman asks for an abortion she is asking the doctor to remove a living thing from her body.
In conclusion, the argument for a baby being part of a woman’s body doesn’t hold up to the light of truth. I am compassionate to people who have to struggle with this decision but will not deny there is a right and wrong way to go. That is why it’s a choice.
