The H1N1 “Emergency” is Democrats Katrina

By Anthony on Monday, November 2, 2009 in General | News & Commentary | Obamarama | Politics

pelosi-obamaWith government run health care on the horizon, the Democrats are fumbling their way through what they call a national health emergency. You would have to live in a cave to not know what I’m referring to. The infamous H1N1 swine flu virus that is killing 10’s of hundreds of Americans every few years. Perhaps the Obama administration was a bit too hasty in declaring this situation a national emergency.

It’s that emergency declaration that brings me to my point. We are in a health emergency (according to Obama) and the government cannot get the vaccines they need for the people. The demand has overwhelmed the system. One would think, that before moving ahead with the decision to upgrade the status of the H1N1, President Obama should have checked on how his plans would work out. What plans were on the table?

He was probably going to do what he does best. First he’ll have his staff “review” the virus. After that I’m sure he’ll say that he is willing to sit down for unilateral talks with this aggressive virus. He may even threaten to say very harsh things to the virus, if it continues to be stubborn. If all else fails he’ll try to find a way to shoot a rocket from a predator at something in Pakistan. Ok, ok I digress.

The fact is, our government is not prepared to take on health care. Look at how they deal with just one disease. It is a complete failure. No vaccines for a national emergency. Shouldn’t the alarms be going off in congress? Incompetence is the best word to describe the situation. Just as everyone was critical about George Bush and the response to Hurricane Katrina, so am I to this response? If the government is unprepared to vaccinate you during an emergency, do you want them making other decisions about your health?

If the supplies were low and the disease is not that severe, keep your non-emergency, emergencies to yourself. Everyone knows that Obama was creating the hype of a health emergency to push his socialized medicine through (never waste an emergency). The only problem is that the American people are smarter than that, and we don’t want Obamacare. Congratulations Mr. President, you now have your own Katrina.

  1. Actually in New York, our unelected Governor (whatever his name is) declared a state of emergency. SO, your facts are off. I blame everything on politicians equally; I just blame things on the Democrats more equally like you do with the Republicans.

    Peace.

  2. Not sure if it’s true but I have been told that any of our 50 governors could have declared a state of emergency for their own states on this issue, but not one did so before Obama declared it Federally.

And if you have a beef with socialized medicine then you ought to be calling on Congress to dissolve Medicare and VA Medical benefits!

When we had the severe wildfires in San Diego the local Republicans rushed to try and compare the response and aid they provided at Qualcomm Park (football stadium) with that provided by New Orleans at the Superdome. It was like comparing apples and oranges. I was a San Diego tourist trapped in the Superdome during Katrina (Proof: My 2008 memoir, Diary From the Dome). The current spin of trying to call this Obama’s Katrina reminds me so much of the failed Republican attempt of comparing the San Diego wildfires with Katrina.

    Signed,

Paul Harris, who is not a huge lover of the Democrats or the Republicans.
