Corruption in Government Goes Public

Absolut-Corruption_2-762717In a display of just how corrupt Washington can be, the Senate got the 60 votes they needed for move ahead with the health care bill. Any time a bill gets the “exact” number of votes it needs, no more no less, it is high time to be suspicious. Unfortunately, suspicion is not necessary this time around. There was corruption and some people were damn proud of it.

What does that say about our society when we are willing to tolerate such behavior in the top levels of government? I am not acting as if there has never been corruption in the past, but have we seen such pride in corruption before? For example, Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-La.) had the nerve to correct the figures when it came to her being paid off. She declared  this pearl, “I am not going to be defensive,”  then continued to say, “And it’s not a $100 million fix. It’s a $300 million fix.”

If the American people cannot see something dead wrong with this, then we deserve what we get. If they are bribing people for their votes, with taxpayer money I might add, then there is something severely wrong with this bill. Do I have to mention that people who accept bribes should not only be voted out of office, but thrown in jail? Are “We the People” going to allow this to happen with no consequence? Is it not striking anyone in the press odd that both the house and senate are voting on this health care bill on Saturdays? We are talking about people who generally work 2 days a week coming in on the weekend, that should raise a flag.

I, as a citizen, am furious at how our government is operating. Deals are being brokered behind closed doors with our money. It’s time to show a little outrage. I will be on the phone with my representatives Monday, and I suggest everyone do the same.

I don’t care that Sen. Landrieu says she may or may not vote to pass the bill, or she won’t as it is written. I care about her blatant arrogance about corruption. Does she think anyone who works to pay taxes is going to be happy about $300 million going to Louisiana because the Democrats needed a vote? Hell NO! Harry Reid should be impeached for allowing this behavior to happen. He Barack, you were right about it not being politics as usual. It’s changed for the worse. When we hear people in congress say that when they see protesters it makes them want to pass the bill even more, that is blatant corruption. When we hear about sweet-heart deals, tax evasion, and bribery, with congressmen not feeling the need to do some explaining, it’s time for a government overhaul.
