Christians on the Endagered Species List?
In recent times the number of Christians in the US has declined. The media brings this point up from time to time, and as a Christian I can say that I am not worried. The dip in numbers can be attributed any number of reasons, but I think the media is missing the point on this issue. It has never been about the “number” of Christians there are, but more about the quality of Christian. It’s about the individual walking with Christ, becoming more like Him with every day. Throughout our history there have been those who are Christian by name alone, perhaps they have finally shed that label in a moment of honesty. After all, it’s chic to have your own beliefs these days, who needs a Bible?
I’m not sure sure why the media follows the number of Christians anyhow. From the beginning the world has tried to get rid of Christians. They killed Jesus and then there were more. They killed the apostles and yet more, and so on. The number may be declining in the US, but we are only a small part of this world. I would tell the atheists out there to not get too excited about the fall of Christianity, it has a tendency to prevail. If not in this lifetime, then the one to come.
